Ep 87 - Mental Health Check-In: Therapist Thoughts on Deconstructing

Each month, Still Becoming brings you a Mental Health Check-In episode. These episodes are focused on mental health, emotional health, or personal growth, and involve a short teaching and a few take aways in around 15 to 20 minutes. The idea is to take a therapeutic topic or technique and expand it to help us in our everyday lives.⁣⁣

I am so excited to have another listener request episode. The request was for deconstructing faith, what a great topic. I have decided to approach this episode from my lens, education, and experience as a therapist. I think it is the most authentic thing I can offer, and also allows me to stay in my lane - which is also my best offering. I will be discussing this from generally what I see and know about the brain and our wiring, but this is not personal or specific to me or anyone else, and this is in no way exhaustive - there will be many things I don't address I am sure, and everyone's experience will be unique. The idea of deconstructing something, I also believe, can apply not only to a faith practice, but to any thing, or relationship to something, we find ourselves changing. Ultimately, I hope this episode makes space for you to think and know your own self, thoughts, and beliefs, because they are far more important than mine.

The In-Between
Still Becoming with Monica DiCristina
Still Becoming is a podcast about how it's never too late to become more free, more yourself, or try something new. We are all in the process of becoming more or less of something, of growing into ourselves. Informed by her own journey of struggling through anxiety to now working with others as a psychotherapist, Monica DiCristina interviews people about their stories of overcoming and becoming, or starting something new, as well as experts we can all learn from. We are not designed to stay the same, we are all still becoming.
