Interview with Aundi Kolber: Learning to Try Softer
Hello!
Do you ever feel exhausted by the messages to keep pushing yourself until you are exhausted and worn out? What if instead of "trying harder," you learned to "try softer?!!"
I am so excited to have therapist and author Aundi Kolber on the Still Becoming podcast. Aundi recently wrote a book called Try Softer, and it's one of the the best books I've ever read. Aundi combines sound psychological research, practical exercises, and a faith perspective. In the book, and in this interview, we discuss Aundi's concept of trying softer. We focus in particular on what "little t versus big T" trauma is, how our upbringings affect us, how we might respond in certain patterns in relationships today, and how we can stop "white knuckling" it through our lives. In such an overwhelming time, I can't imagine a message we all need to hear more. Aundi is wise, compassionate, and provides so much hope for all of us.
Aundi Kolber is a licensed professional counselor (MA, LPC), an author, and a speaker living in Castle Rock, Colorado. She has received additional training in her specialization of trauma- and body-centered therapies and is passionate about the integration of faith and psychology. She has written for Relevant, CT Women, and (in)courage. As a survivor of trauma, Aundi brings hard-won knowledge about the work of change, the power of redemption, and the beauty of experiencing God with us in our pain. Aundi is happily married to her best friend, Brendan, and is the proud mom of Matia and Jude.
